Outstanding staff, Excellent Customer Service, Immaculate Rooms and Bath Generous breakfast. Easy access to Geneva airport (only 40 minutes drive to airport parking) and 100km from Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. This is the second time we stayed at the Ibis Thonon-Evian to hike in the Alps and the Green Vallee. We had two comfortable clean rooms for a couple of days. The staff were professional, courteous and very helpful. The breakfast was delicious with fresh butter croissants and French crepes, natural and fruit yogurt, cereals, multi-grain spelt bread, various French cheeses, juices, espresso, coffee latte and fresh fruits. On the shore of the Geneva Lake (lac Léman), the hotel is well located on the northern foothills of the Alps with over 100 hiking trails of various altitudes. It is 10-minute drive from the national aquatic pools in Amphion-Publier (City of Water), a children paradise within minutes of the famous Evian spa city. On the way to the hotel from Geneva airport, we made a short detour to visit and dine in the romantic, medieval, flower-rich Yvoire, a small French town on the shore of Geneva Lake (Lac Léman) popular with day-trippers from Geneva. We dined at Les Jardins Lema where we had a splendid view of the Lake and a memorable dinner for four. Yvoire is a must for flowers and glass-arts lovers. It is an International Laureate of Floral Decorations, a member of the Association of the Most Beautiful Villages of France. It has a large number of great restaurants, cafés, boutiques, art galleries, studios, and souvenir shops. Distance less than 20 miles from Geneva airport. The panoramic views on the lake, the Botanic Garden, the culinary food and the glass artwork are worth the detour. On the second evening, we dined on the magnificent terrace of La Table du Grand Lac in Amphion (10-minute drive from Ibis Thonon hotel) overlooking Lake Geneva. In the past, we swam and sailed in the Lake and took one the numerous ferries crossing to Lausanne (12 km). We also took the children to a world-class aquatic center, la Cité de l'Eau in Amphion-Publier, which is open all year round with a 25-meter Olympic swimming pool, a wave pool, a water slide, a diving pool, whirlpool baths, and a wide variety of activities: water aerobics, a water garden, swimming lessons and a fitness center with weight-lifting and cardio-training rooms, and sports facilities for basket-ball, volley-ball and rock climbing, all within 10 minutes drive of our hotel. We can't wait to return to Ibis Thonon-Evian Hotel.
